The Malatrà project among winners of Smart City award

The Malatrà project is among the winners of the Smart City award, which was delivered Wednesday, May 14 in Torino, in the second edition of Smau.
The Smart City Award is an event that, in line with the key themes of the second edition of Smau Torino, has focused attention on the most innovative measures taken by public administrations and local authorities to improve the lives of its citizens.
The Malatrà project, born and developed by Fondazione Montagna Sicura and EnviSens Technologies, has as its objective the creation of an innovative system for tracking and identification based on RFID technology for the monitoring of glaciers and land.
The award has been collected by Prof. Giovanni Perona, professor at CINFAI (Consorzio Interuniversitario Nazionale per la Fisica delle Atmosfere e delle Idrosfere) and head of the scientific research unit GLACIES (GLaciers And Cryosphere International Expert Study group). The GLACIES scientific research unit was born with the aim of developing new ad hoc technologies and sensors to be used in glacial environment. Subjects involeved in GLACIES are: Fondazione Montagna sicura, EnviSens Technologies, the “Dipartimento programmazione, difesa del suolo e risorse idriche della Regione autonoma Valle d’Aosta”, ARPA Valle d’Aosta, “Dipartimento Tecnologie Innovative (DTI) della Scuola universitaria professionale della Svizzera italiana (SUPSI) di Lugano”, the Versuchsanstalt für Wasserbau, Hydrologie und Glaziologie (VAW) of Politecnico (ETH) in Zurigo.
